Theresa Nist Reflects on Advice The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner Gave Her amid Drama with Kathy Swarts

Theresa Nist gets candid as she watches the drama unfold as she and 21 ladies battle it out for Gerry Turner’s heart.

In a post shared on Instagram after last Thursday’s episode The Golden BachelorTheresa, 70, opened up about how challenging it was to watch the series with her family and friends, knowing she was “embroiled in drama” with fellow hopeful Kathy Swarts.

“This past episode was a little hard for me to watch,” she wrote in the post. “Never in a million years did I think I’d find myself involved in drama. That’s not who I am. I just thought I could be open and honest with a new friend about how I feel.”

Last week, Theresa told Kathy, 70, about her relationship with Gerry before a cocktail party and recalled their off-the-charts date, saying: “It was amazing. We didn’t stop talking. We were smiling the whole time. He was talking about the future.”

However, Kathy — who had her own worries about getting the rose — wasn’t a fan of Theresa’s boastful attitude, explaining in the confessional: “I don’t want to hear it. I think she thinks she has this.”

Although she got the rose in the end, Kathy didn’t get over the drama with Theresa. When Theresa pulled her aside to talk, Kathy eventually told her, “I feel like you’re rejecting me, like, ‘He and I are riding off into the sunset. Go pack because you’re going home.’ You made me feel that way sometimes.”

Although Theresa was completely surprised by the revelation and apologized to her colleague, Kathy insisted her previous comments were “possessive” and “territorial”. On the other hand, Theresa responded that she was trying to be “open and honest,” but Kathy said she “doesn’t fall for it.”

On Instagram, with a group photo of her loved ones gathered around them The Golden Bachelor watch party, Theresa reflected on their feud, saying: “As you saw, I acknowledged that everyone felt a connection with Gerry and I welcomed that. We were all on a journey to see who was best for Gerry.”

The financial services professor then recalled the advice she received from the golden bachelor.

“Gerry said to me ‘If you, in your heart, don’t believe that you were bragging, you don’t believe that you were doing something to hurt somebody, then I think you should leave it.’ I never intended to make Kathy or anyone feel less than that,” she wrote.

Quoting her co-star Edith Aguirre, Theresa added, “As Edith said, ‘The tension is that we’re only dating one man.’ Of course!”

Theresa concluded her post by thanking her fans for their “kind messages” and for seeing her “good intentions.”

“I felt absolutely horrible when I realized I had hurt Kathy’s feelings,” she wrote. “Thank you to my friends and family who know me and know that I would never want to make anyone feel bad in any way, as well as my new friends who already see that in me. Love to all!”
