This seemingly innocent picture of a newborn has set the internet alight… so can you spot why?

AT FIRST glance, this picture looks like an innocent snap of a newborn baby – being held proudly by a woman in the delivery room.

But the viral image has set the internet alight, because of what’s hiding in the background of the seemingly innocent snap.

This picture of a newborn baby has gone viral on social media - because it's not as innocent as it seems

The photo, which was originally posted on Reddit, was shared on Facebook page Bubs Warehouse International last week – and has racked up 7,100 reactions and 4,000 comments.

It shows a woman dressed in scrubs taking a selfie while holding a crying baby wrapped in a towel, who seems to have only been born minutes before.

The picture is captioned: “Some people are in such a hurry to put the picture of baby on Facebook. They just forget some things before posting.”

The zoomed out version of the viral photo is below – can you tell what’s odd about it?

In the background of the picture, there is a woman lying on her back with her legs wide open – presumably the mum who’s given birth to her baby only moments before.

And, perhaps surprisingly, it’s resonated with lots of mums.

Among them was Amanda Wickins, who wrote: “Hahahahahaha this happened to me with my son.

“My mum did the picture of my son on the weighing table thingy all focused on him not realising and put it on Facebook without realising. Yep I was in the photo”.

The same thing had happened to Ariana Brooks, who added: “This actually was my mum she got camera happy in the delivery room beautiful newborn baby and completely forgetting my (va)gina was out.

“Thankfully it didn’t make fb (Facebook) it did get printed at the photographers though”.

While Monique Louise revealed her partner Marty had taken a picture and sent it to his dad, “not realising I was being stitched up in the background”.

But some of the commenters were much more shocked.

Trez Webber asked: “Why is no one there supporting the mother? And her Bub taken so far away from her. No wonder the kid is screaming.

“Still a funny thought of it going up on SM (social media) though”.

And Carina Lawless added: “OMG. …the poor woman…she would have been horrified!”

If you enjoyed this brainteaser, see if you can spot what’s odd about this girls’ holiday snap.
