After release About the womanThomas Rhett shared with PEOPLE that “on my last few albums, there were so many songs that my kids wanted to skip or my wife wanted to skip. I don’t really know why, other than it didn’t work out and they wanted to dance. I really wanted to make sure that my wife and children to feel that this brought a smile to their face and that they really wanted to get moving.”

That inspiration prompted Thomas Rhett to write roughly 100 songs for the record before whittling it down to 14 songs he “just couldn’t live without.”

“I had to play these songs in so many different environments to get the tick of approval,” he recalled. “I feel like having the time to be able to play them for people gave me a really good sense of confidence, like, ‘Maybe my instincts are right.’ I don’t really trust my instinct.”
