Thomas Rhett sure puts on a great show!
The country star, 34, performed his upbeat single “Beautiful as You” live for the first time during the 2024 ACM Awards.
Thomas Rhett was all smiles as he began his performance from the crowd. Dressed in a brown jacket, plain white T-shirt and light-colored jeans, the singer took to the stage, reciting every line from the new single as his band performed behind him.
During his set, the stage was lit up with flashing white and yellow lights that glowed to the beat of the song.

The self-deprecating song “Beautiful as You” is about dating someone a little out of his league, and in the chorus Thomas Rhett sings, “What’s someone as beautiful as you/Doin’ ridin’ ’round with someone like me?/ I swear, girl, she could would have whoever you choose.”
“This is an anthem for anyone who feels like they’ve outgrown their coverage,” the “Die a Happy Man” singer said in a statement. “There was a day a few years ago when I looked at my wife, and I asked myself, ‘Why on earth did you choose me?’ I can be with someone who could easily be on the cover of a magazine, and I see her in all her guises – partner, mother, friend, even philanthropist. I just feel like I have a near perfect front row seat, if you will. And as the song says, ‘Seriously, what’s someone as amazing as you doing with someone like me?'”
It’s no surprise that Thomas Rhett included his fans in the performance. He was happy to meet them on the red carpet, take photos and sign autographs.

On the red carpet, he talked to PEOPLE about the preparations for his special performance.
“This will be the first time we will ever play [‘Beautiful as You’] in front of people, and do it further [an] the awards show is very exciting,” Thomas Rhett said. “I’m excited about it.” The star added that he “definitely” still gets nervous before a show, but he knows how to handle it.
“My nerves come from worrying. I just want to be good and so I think that’s where the nerves come from,” he said. “But ultimately, the first note that comes out of your mouth turns into excitement very quickly.”
Thomas Rhett added that he plans to release five new songs over the summer ahead of the August 23 release of his upcoming seventh album.

The 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards are broadcast live on Prime Video from the Ford Center at The Star in Texas.
