Tia Mowry reiterates that “everything is fine” between her and twin sister Tamera Mowry.
In his new reality series, Tia Mowry: My next gig, Tia, 46, said she wishes she and Tamera were “still close” and “could pick up the phone and call her.”
The star later told PEOPLE that “it’s very natural for us to create our own lives” and that there is “so much love” between the two. A source also told PEOPLE that Tia’s comments about not being “close” with her sister were actually about geography, noting that the comment was “about a lack of closeness in their physical location” given that Tamera lives in Napa and Tia in Los Angeles.
Now, talking to Party tonight on Friday, Oct. 11, Tia once again clarified comments she made about her relationship status with Tamera on her new reality series, stating that her first comments were about “access.”
“She’s a mother. Her children need her. She’s also a woman. Her husband needs her,” Tia said. “So she’s just not as approachable as she was. So I’m comparing her to what she was. But I literally talked to her yesterday.”
“Everything is good,” she added. “I’ll say what my cousin says, it’s all right. Period.”

Tia added that her twin sister is also “in a different place” in her life.
“She does her thing and I do mine. It’s the same thing with my brother. We made movies together, Seventeen again,” she said of co-starring with Tia and brother Tahj Mowry in the 2000 film.
“I think the reason people go there is because our careers started together. But just like any sibling, everyone goes off to do their own thing, and you want that. You want them to be individuals and fly alone,” the Sister, sister continue alum. “So there’s nothing harmful about it.”

In a previous teaser for her new reality show, Tia talked about the distance between herself and Tamera and how “being alone” in the midst of her divorce from ex-husband Cory Hardrict is “the most challenging part” of it.
“At times like this, I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and that I could pick up the phone and call her,” she said, speaking into the camera. “But that’s just not where we are right now.”

The star later told PEOPLE that “it’s very normal for all of us to take on new roles and responsibilities when it comes to our lives.” Tia is the mother of son Cree (13) and daughter Cairo (6), who she shares with her ex-husband. Tamera, meanwhile, shares son Aden, 11, and daughter Ariah, 9, with husband Adam Housley.
“My sister has her own family,” she said. “… I guess what I’m saying is normal. It’s very natural for us to create lives for ourselves.”
Tia then added that the two sisters have a “beautiful bond that we have that will never leave.”
“It’s just a part of life,” she further explained their distance. “People have started to start their own families. That’s right and that’s okay. There’s no anger.”
Tia Mowry: My next act airs Fridays on We TV, and new episodes are also available on AMC’s streaming service ALLBLK.
