Tiffany Haddish Pokes Fun at Her DUI Arrest During Comedy Set: Report

Hours after she was arrested in Beverly Hills, the comedian, 43, joked about her drug-impaired self during a stand-up set in Long Beach, California.

Tiffany Haddish has spoken out about her DUI arrest. On Friday, PEOPLE confirmed that Haddish, 43, was arrested by the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) and is facing a DUI charge after she allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.

Later that day, the actress performed a previously scheduled stand-up performance at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, California, and, according to audio from the set obtained by TMZ, talked about the arrest.

In the video – captured by an audience member at Friday night’s performance – when asked about what happened “last night,” Haddish jokingly replied, “You tell me,” before joking about the situation.

“I prayed to God to send me a man with a job, a career, preferably in uniform, and I heard my prayers,” she said in the video.

A representative for Haddish did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

On Friday, BHPD said they received a call around 5:45 a.m. local time about a woman behind the wheel of a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of Beverly Drive while the car was still in motion.

Haddish was arrested by authorities and released later that day.

The night before, she performed at The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood as part of the 43rd annual Free Community Thanksgiving Fest.

Tiffany Haddish Jokes That Her Recent Arrest Was A ‘Stupid Accident’

The Girls trip The star’s arrest comes after she was arrested in Georgia for another DUI-related incident in January 2022.

At that time, she was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol and illegal traffic stop. Authorities responded to a 911 call around 2:30 a.m. local time about a driver who had reportedly fallen asleep at the wheel on the 74 Freeway.

“The ensuing investigation led to the arrest of Ms. Tiffany Haddish for driving under the influence,” police told PEOPLE at the time. “She was transported to the Fayette County Jail without incident.”

According to TMZ, she is due in court for a case related to the Dec. 4 arrest.

The joke Haddish used on Friday marked the second time she comically addressed the arrest by saying she wanted a man in uniform.

A week after her arrest in Georgia, she told Jimmy Fallon Tonight’s show“I can say this, Jimmy… I prayed to God to send me a new man. A good man. And God went ahead and sent me four… in uniform.”

She added about the case: “And now I got a really great lawyer and we’re going to work it out. I have to ask God for things a little better!”
