Ozzy Osbourne Says He Has ‘at Best 10 Years Left’ to Live: ‘When You’re Older, Time Picks Up Speed’

Ozzy Osbourne says he’s not afraid of death.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone UKThe 74-year-old Prince of Darkness spoke about his current view of death, and how much he thinks he has “left” to live.

“I said yes [wife] Sharon [Osbourne] that I recently smoked a joint and she said: ‘What are you doing! It’ll f—– kill you!’ I said, ‘How long do you want me f—– to live?!'” he told the news outlet.

“I’ve got 10 years left at best, and when you’re older, time goes by,” he continued. “Me and Sharon recently had our 41st wedding anniversary and it’s just amazing!”

During the discussion, Ozzy revealed that he was also thinking about his friends who had died, and how “all my drinking partners” are “ye—— dead.”

“I should have been dead before a bunch of them,” he added. “Why am I the last man alive? I don’t understand any of that. Sometimes I look in the mirror and say, ‘Why the hell did you make it?!’ I’m not bragging about any of that because I should have been dead a thousand times over. They pumped out my stomach God knows how many times.”

“But I don’t want to have a long, painful, miserable existence,” he remarked. “I like the idea that if you have an incurable disease, you can go to some place in Switzerland and get it done quickly. I saw my father die of cancer.”

Back in February, the legendary rocker canceled all upcoming performances and announced that he was giving up the tour due to a spinal injury. At the time, he described the news on Instagram as “one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share.”

Ozzy underwent surgery in 2019 after a fall, when he aggravated previous damage to his neck and back from an ATV accident 16 years earlier. After three more surgeries and a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, the rocker said Rolling Stone UK that he will “perform” again if possible, but that “it takes one day at a time”.

“But it was like saying goodbye to the best relationship of my life,” he said. “At the beginning of my illness, when I stopped touring, I was really angry with myself, the doctors and the world. But as time went on, I just said, ‘Well, maybe I just have to accept that fact.'”

“I’m not going to go up there and do a half-assed Ozzy looking for sympathy. What’s the fucking point of that? I’m not going up there in a fucking wheelchair,” he added, revealing that he had seen Phil Collins perform in a wheelchair.

Still, Ozzy said he was upset he didn’t get a chance to “say goodbye or thank you” to his fans on the road.

“They write to me, they know everything about my dogs. It’s basically my extended family and they give us the lifestyle we have. For whatever reason, that’s my goal that I’m working towards. Doing these shows. If it’s at Ozzfest or somewhere else, or even a fucking show at the Roundhouse,” he explained.

“If I can’t continue to do shows regularly, I just want to be well enough to do one show where I can say, ‘Hi people, thank you so much for my life.’ That’s what I’m working towards, and if I end up dropping dead, I’ll die a happy man.”

While replaying the series is still on Ozzy’s bucket list, one thing that isn’t is a comeback The OsbournesMTV reality show about his family that lasted four seasons until 2005.

During a recent episode The Osbournes podcastwhere he was joined by Sharon, 71, and children Jack and Kelly, Ozzy said the show was unlikely to return.

“Will not be repeated. Never in a million years,” he insisted, and Jack agreed, “To be honest with you, I don’t think you should.”
