The “Golden Traveler” dressed in an elaborate golden costume was then lowered from the roof onto the stage to help tell the history of the Olympic Games.
On their journey, a cloaked person gave them a Greek flag, representing the ancient origins of the Games.
The traveler was later joined on stage by a group of acrobats dressed as alien-like beings who helped the traveler discover the Olympic rings that were lifted from the stadium floor into the air.
French pianist and opera singer Benjamin Bernheim then performed a rendition of the Hymn to Apollo while composer Alain Roche played the piano while suspended in mid-air.
