TOMY Recalls Boon Flair and Flair Elite Highchairs Due to Fall Hazard Resulting in 11 Injuries

TOMY is recalling nearly 85,000 Boon Flair & Flair Elite high chairs.

Boon Flair and Flair Elite high chairs — sold at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target and Toys ‘R’ Us stores nationwide, online through Amazon, Target, Walmart and Bed, Bath & Beyond — are being recalled, the Consumer Safety Commission of the product was announced on Thursday.

The recall, which affects 17 individual models, comes after the manufacturer learned that the screws used to secure the seat of the recalled high chair to the stand could loosen and allow the seat to detach, posing a fall hazard. The model number and production date code are printed on a label located under the base of the high chair.

TOMY has so far received 34 reports about the separation of the chair from the base. Of the 34 reports, there were 24 falls, resulting in 11 injuries, such as bruises or scratches.

The Flair high chairs have a gray plastic base and were sold in 10 color combinations, including blue/white, white/orange, pink/white, green/white, grey/green, white, grey, white/grey, white/blue and red white.

Consumers should stop using the pulled highchairs immediately and contact TOMY for a free repair kit, which includes a set of screws and split and flat washers to repair the pulled highchair. From 2008 to 2009, the Flair Elite sold for around $380. The Flair models were sold from January 2008 to February 2017 for between $230 and $250.
