Tori Spelling Reveals Her Kids' Surprise Gift for the 'Anti-Mother's Day' They Planned

Tori Spelling reveals what her children gave her for Mother’s Day this year.

On the Friday, May 17 episode of her podcast wrong SPELLINGthe Beverly Hills, 90210 The alum, 51, revealed to listeners that her children – Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7 – threw her “un-Mother’s Day” celebrations all over Los Angeles.

Spelling shares her five children with her estranged husband Dean McDermott. Spelling filed for divorce in March after they announced they were separating in June 2023.

At the beginning of the episode, Spelling said that this was her “first Mother’s Day, alone, going through a divorce, with [her] 5 children.”

“Usually, I would plan something for years,” she began. “I guess we’re conditioned to think you should have a Mother’s Day lunch. I don’t even know where it started.”

“But every year I felt pressure like, ‘Oh, it’s Mother’s Day. We should go for a snack, and I’d find some, like, great place and make it.’ And then the rest of the day was just about the kids,” Spelling said. “I was always on the edge. Like, oh, it’s a matter of time. We can’t relax. We have plans.”

Spelling then revealed that her oldest daughter, Stella, has asked her several times what she wants to do for the holidays. After asking one last time the day before, Stella told her mother, “’No. I don’t want you to plan it. I know what you want. Let me handle it.’”

“And I said, ‘Really? Do you want to plan something? Oh, my God,’ Spelling said, adding that it ‘takes so much pressure’ off her after ‘all these years’ of having to plan something for herself.

Stella first took the family to dim sum, of which Spelling is a “huge fan.”

“It was really great. And we had a great time, we had tea and all that,” Spelling added. “And I drank some sake and I was a happy, happy, happy mom.”

As she continued, she revealed during their car ride that Stella said, “’We went against Mother’s word. Like, it wasn’t, like, prim and proper and brunch and, like, all that.’”

Then Stella revealed she had a “really big surprise” and wrote down the address to take mom to without telling her where they were going.

The family then arrived at “one of the [her] favorite places for tattoos and piercings,” Nathan’s in Canoga Park, where it was revealed that Nathan himself had been coming to give Spelling what she was hoping to get.

Wrapping up the story, Spelling revealed that she opted for a dermal piercing. Her kids, Hattie and Beau also asked to get their ears pierced – officially ending the family’s “non-Mother’s Day” celebration!
