The attack was reported at around 9.20pm on Saturday off Undercliff Road West.
The man, who has not yet been named, was found dead at around 10.20am on Sunday in the rented mobile home at Suffolk Sands Holiday Park in Carr Road where he was staying with his family.
Suffolk Police confirmed today that a post mortem carried out this morning by a Home Office pathologist indicated that the preliminary cause of death was traumatic head injury.
A 28-year-old man from Felixstowe was arrested last night on suspicion of murder.
The man is currently being questioned at the police investigation center in Martlesham, near Ipswich.
Detective Inspector Mark Hughes, from Suffolk Police, said: “The investigation into the man’s death is continuing.
“Detectives are investigating, investigating the circumstances of the altercation and identifying those who were in the area at the time who may be able to assist with the investigation.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack on the coast or who may have any information that could assist us with our enquiries.
“It is important to note that we believe this is an isolated incident with no wider threat to members of the public.”
Police deemed the man’s death “unexplained” before an autopsy.
He is said to be the only person reported injured in the attack.
Officers were called to the scene of the attack on Saturday and the East of England Ambulance Service discovered the man’s body the following day.
The mobile home where the man died remained cordoned off by Suffolk Police last night, with an officer in a patrol car parked next to it.
A resident of a nearby mobile home said he believed the man who died was on vacation, possibly staying with his grandfather and others.
The man said, “They’ve only been here a few nights. It’s terrible that this young man lost his life.”
Another added: “It’s a close-knit community here. People are quite upset and wondering how he could have died.”
Suffolk Sands is managed by Park Holidays, which describes it on its website as a “relaxing little park” with a “beautiful beach front location” in a “peaceful and quiet setting”.
Mobile homes can be rented on the site in August from around £700 per week.
Suffolk Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the altercation or who has any information about the man’s death.
This includes anyone with CCTV or video doorbell footage, taken in the area of Ranelagh Road and Undercliff Road West, Felixstowe, between 8.30pm and 9.20pm on Saturday.
Officers also want to hear from any dash cam drivers who have been driving in the area.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Suffolk Police, quoting crime number 37/45286/24, either via their website or by calling 101.
Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
