Travis Kelce Got an 'Automatic Green Light' from Niecy Nash-Betts on Grotesquerie: 'She Adores Him' (Exclusive Source)

Travis Kelce has the stamp of Niecy Nash-Betts.

An exclusive source tells PEOPLE that the Kansas City Chiefs player, 34, and the actress, 54, became fast friends while filming Ryan Murphy’s upcoming horror series, Grotesqueness.

“They had the best time on set. She just adores him,” the insider said of Nash-Betts. “[Travis] he was super happy on set and he and Niecy felt really good, nothing was forced.”

Although the Emmy winner is “the type to make up her mind very quickly about people,” a source reveals that Kelce “automatically got the green light from her.”

In May, Nash-Betts revealed the Super Bowl champion would be joining the FX series in an Instagram video of the couple on set.

“Guys, guess who I’m working with Grotesqueness?” she teased, before moving on to Kelce.

“Jumping into new territory with Niecy!” he replied, as Nash-Betts said, “We’re on the spot!”

Since then, the pair have rekindled their friendship and shared numerous videos of the two bantering, dancing and engaging in other shenanigans on set.

While talking to Party tonight in June, Nash-Betts revealed that Kelce had resumed acting Grotesqueness and she was “pleasantly surprised” by his performance.

“He’s doing really well. Really good,” she told the outlet before sharing that she “of course” helps Kelce with his sentences.

The Clutches the star noted at the time that a typical rehearsal for them looks like “we’re sitting around eating In-N-Out, reading words off a piece of paper.”

Despite Nash-Betts’ trust in him, the athlete admitted that his new role is somewhat of a challenge.

“You could say that,” he said while debating whether he thinks of himself as an actor during an appearance on Good morning America in June. “I acted a few plays ago, although in those plays I only played myself.”

He added that “it’s definitely different portraying a character and trying to find emotion in everything and understanding the script and the scene.”

“It’s a challenge. I feel like an amateur right now, but I can be coached,” Kelce added. “That’s one thing I know from playing sports – I’m a coachable guy.”
