Travis Kelce Says Christmas 'Ended Well' but Losing Game Was 'F—ing the Worst'

The Chiefs tight end lost to the Las Vegas Raiders 20-14 on Christmas Day with Taylor Swift and her family in attendance

Christmas didn’t go the way Travis Kelce imagined it would, but the Chiefs tight end’s girlfriend helped cheer him up.

On Friday in the bonus episode New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, Travis, 34, said Christmas was “the f*cking worst, I’m not gonna lie,” after Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, asked him how his holiday was.

“I’ve had better,” Travis continued, alluding to the Chiefs’ 20-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, their AFC West rivals, on Christmas Day.

However, the rest improved as the day went on, the tight end was split, and he hinted at some quality time with Taylor Swift.

“But it ended well, with a good Christmas spirit and great people, and that will always save Christmas – whether you lose to the Raiders or not.”

Taylor, 34, and her family were in attendance at Monday’s game, with her brother, Austin, dressed in a full Santa suit and her mom, Andrea, in a Chiefs Santa hat as they cheered Travis on from his suite at Arrowhead Stadium. Travis’ dad, Ed Kelce, was also in attendance at the game and watched from the same suite as the Swift family.

Despite the tough loss, Travis left the stadium hand-in-hand with Taylor, which probably underscores that the day ended “well,” as Kylie put it.

He caught the moment of the couple Kansas City Star photojournalist Nick Wagner, who shared the photo on Instagram. He originally captioned the post, “Spent Christmas waiting for these two lovebirds,” but later changed it to “Merry Christmas to all who celebrate.”

As for Christmas in the other Kelce household, Kylie said that for her, Jason and their three daughters: Wyatt, 3, Elliotte, 2, and Bennett, 10 months, “Christmas was great.”

“There was a question of whether the gifts would be there in the morning, but they were,” Kylie said. “They were there. Santa Claus stopped by. There wasn’t an ounce of coal left, so I dodged a bullet there.”

She previously told PEOPLE that Jason’s Christmas game against the New York Giants prompted the family to decide to postpone the celebration until the 26th.

“Luckily for us, our girls can’t read a calendar yet, so we’re going to take full advantage of that and pretend it’s Christmas on the 26th,” she said earlier this month.

However, on Friday’s episode of the podcast, Kylie said they were “lucky” because Jason’s schedule “allowed him to be home Monday morning, so we could do the presents on Monday morning and then have dinner on the 26th.”

Kylie’s appearance on the podcast also saw her praise Taylor’s brother, Austin, 31, for wearing a Santa suit to Monday’s game.

“It was a total commitment and I respect that,” she said of the look, which Travis agreed with.

“It was a total engagement. And he killed it,” the tight end said before revealing the thoughtful gift Austin gave him.

“He actually made me feel like a kid because his gift to me was straight out of the bag,” Travis said. “It was in Santa’s sack, phew, [he] took it out and gave me a VHS of my favorite football movie of all time.”
