Travis Kelce Says He Was ‘a Shy Kid’ and Reveals Mom Donna’s ‘Home Videos’ Built His on-Camera Confidence

Travis Kelce wasn’t always the confident king!

The Kansas City Chiefs star, 34, admitted he was a “shy kid” growing up during Friday’s pre-Super Bowl press conference and revealed his mother Donna Kelce’s “home videos” helped him gain confidence in front of the camera to the point that is having fun with her now.

“My mom’s home video, man. Just to have that camera on me all the time,” Kelce said with a laugh to reporters after being asked where he gets his confidence in front of the cameras. “See what stupid things I do next,” he added.

“Honestly, I’ve always been comfortable in the rooms I’ve stayed in and I’ve just been lucky enough to, I don’t know, be able to look at the camera with ease, I guess,” Kelce continued. “I don’t know, he’s just having fun out there, I guess.”

Kelce went on to explain that “sports for me is where I built my confidence.”

“You’re not going to believe it, but I was a shy kid growing up, until I got on the sports field, court or ice rink,” he said. “And then I let my personality show a little more because I was having fun, I was having success.”

“And that kind of encouraged me to have confidence in life,” Kelce added.

On Friday night, the Chiefs tight end fired up his team in an Instagram post ahead of his Feb. 11 Super Bowl appearance.

Posting a highlight reel of their recent AFC Championship win against the Baltimore Ravens, Kelce captioned his video, “Las Vegas, NEVADA,” referring to the location of the Super Bowl game where the Chiefs will face off against the San Francisco 49ers.

During the press conference, Kelce also talked about the special moment he celebrated his win with girlfriend Taylor Swift, after the singer joined the Chiefs star on the field after Sunday’s AFC Championship final game.

“It’s another memory on the road that we have to cherish, man,” Kelce told reporters. “And I’m happy to have all the support I need off the field.”

He added, “it gives me a reason to play a lot harder on the court of the people you just mentioned,” referring to Swift, 34.

After the Chiefs’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week, Kelce and Swift were photographed kissing and hugging on the field while surrounded by cameras and teammates.

Kelce told Swift on court, “Tay, I’m going to have fun with the boys,” before kissing the singer and telling her, “I love you.”

On February 11, the Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
