Travis Kelce Says the Chiefs Used a ’90s Arcade Game Move to Beat the Ravens: ‘We Ran Da Bomb’

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce love to bring up the ’90s.

While Swift, 34, once sang that she’s coming back “stronger than the ’90s trend,” her NFL boyfriend Kelce, also 34, has now spoken out about ’90s arcade games on New heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast.

In the latest episode of the podcast, Travis and Jason, 36, reminisced about playing games like Backyard baseball, Yard soccer, NBA Jam and NFL Blitz when they were children.

Working out the legacy of NFL BlitzTravis jokingly said that one specific move helped the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens, 17-10, during the Jan. 28 AFC Championship game.

“If you say ‘Run Da Bomb’ to a man in the ’90s, they know exactly what you’re talking about,” Travis said 83 minutes into the episode. “That’s what we were running for, f—ing, to win the game against the Ravens to throw it to Marquez [Valdes-Scantling]. We ran Da Bomb. It is the best play ever invented.”

That catch helped the Chiefs clinch a spot in the Super Bowl. After the Ravens game, Kelce found Swift on the field and kissed her.

Meanwhile, Jason, who described NFL Blitz as “probably the best arcade game ever created,” spoke more of Da Bomb’s lasting influence.

“I really think it revolutionized the NFL passing game,” he said. “There was one game that everyone chose, and it was called the bomb. Everyone in the NFL is running that now.”

The brothers also recalled using moves such as turbo and manual juke while playing NFL Blitz at the Uptown Lounge in Kansas City as adults.

“No one could do with… with us,” Travis added. “It was like being 10 years old again, beating all our friends.”

Elsewhere in the episode, they discussed wanting to somehow acquire the Backyard Sports video game franchise.

They also mentioned how Kelce, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs reached their fourth Super Bowl in five years.

This time, the team had an A-list supporter in Swift. The 12-time Grammy winner has attended 12 Chiefs games since she and Kelce announced their relationship in September 2023.

It is not known if Swift will attend the Super Bowl on February 11 in Las Vegas to watch Kelce and the Chiefs play against the San Francisco 49ers, as she has an Eras Tour stop in Tokyo on February 10.

While fans continue to speculate, the Embassy of Japan in Washington, DC has released a statement assuring everyone that it is possible for Swift to travel from Japan to Las Vegas in time for the game.

“Despite the 12-hour flight and the 17-hour time difference, the Embassy can confidently Speak now to say that if she leaves Tokyo the evening after her concert, she should comfortably arrive in Las Vegas before the start of the Super Bowl,” the embassy wrote.
