Eddie Lampert was born in 1962 to Dolores Lampert and Floyd M. Lampert, a homemaker and senior partner at the Lampert & Lampert law firm in New York. Lampert also has a younger sister named Tracey. Lampert’s grandmother, a passive investor and a big fan of Louis Rukeyser’s Wall Street Week television program, piqued his interest in investing. Unfortunately, his father passed away, forcing his mother to work as a clerk at Saks Fifth Avenue. Lampert also worked at various warehouses after school and on weekends to help support his family. He was getting good grades even though he was working. As a result, he received financial aid to pay for college. Lampert graduated summa cum laude in economics from Yale University in 1984.
