True Whitaker is asking the public to “not speculate or make up facts” about the death of her late mother, Keisha Nash.
True, the 25-year-old daughter of Nash and Forest Whitaker revealed in an Instagram post on Thursday that her mother died at the age of 51.
In a subsequent post, True dismissed rumors surrounding Nash’s death, which she described as “irrelevant to my mother.”
“I’m just going to say one thing and then I’m going to ask for a break until my family recovers,” the actress wrote on her Instagram Story on Friday. “There were statements by STRANGERS claiming the cause of my mom’s death.”
“My mom did NOT suffer from anorexia, although my heart goes out to those who do,” she added.

True, who has continued to post throwback pictures of Nash on her Instagram Story since sharing the news of her death, then elaborated on her wishes.
“I ask for respect and space and that they do not speculate or invent facts about her life,” she wrote. “And to those who did not support my family and me, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Nash’s death was previously confirmed to Deadline by her family. The cause of death is not yet known.

Forest, 62, who filed for divorce from Nash in 2018, met his ex-wife on the set of the 1994 film. Blownin which she portrayed his girlfriend, CBS News reported.
The couple married in 1996 in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and share daughters True and Sonnet Noel, 27. (Keisha is also mother to daughter Autumn, 32, and Forest is also father to son Ocean, 33.)

After confirming the news of her mother’s death on Instagram this week, True shared a heartfelt post dedicated to her, sharing several throwback pictures of the pair and other nods to their relationship.
One of the pictures contained a “I love you” message that her mother had apparently written to her, while others showed the duo enjoying each other’s company.
“Goodbye mom. Love you forever and ever,” True wrote in her caption. “The most beautiful woman in the world.”
“Thank you for teaching me every thing I know. I will see you in my dreams and feel you in my heart,” she added.
