Tulsi Ramsay (1944-2018) was an Indian director, best known for directing a number of horror films in the 1980s and 1990s. He is considered the pioneer of Bollywood horror films.

Tulsi Ramsay was born on Tuesday, July 29, 1941, in Karachi, Sindh, British India (age 77 at the time of death). Tulsi Ramsay’s family roots can be traced back to Karachi. After the partition of India, the family moved to Bombay (now Mumbai).

Tulsi Ramsay was born into a Sindhi Hindu family in Karachi.

Parents and siblings

His father Fatechand Uttamchand (FU) Ramsay (late) was a radio engineer; however, he turned to selling cloth to meet the expenses of his large family, which included seven sons and two daughters. Tulsi is one of the seven famous Ramsay brothers and has two sisters. The six brothers are Kumar Ramsay (eldest son), Shyam Ramsay, Keshu Ramsay, Arjun Ramsay, Gangu Ramsay and Kiran Ramsay. The names of his sisters are Asha and Kamla.

Tulsi Kumar passed away at home on December 14, 2018. Tulsi Ramsey was reportedly admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital suffering from chest pain and heart attack. After returning home, he died.

  • According to Alisha Kirpalani, Tusli Ramsay’s niece, Tulsi and Shyam directed their first film, a Sindhi film, in 1971 Horror film Naqli Shaan.
  • According to reports, Tulsi Ramsay and her team accidentally discovered a body underground while filming the movie Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche in 1971. In an interview, Tulsi Ramsey shared some of her experiences filming the film. He revealed that he heard someone’s heavy breathing and footsteps at 2:30 in the morning and experienced the presence of ghosts; however, when he rushed to the hotel one kilometer away from the filming location, he found that he was left alone Breathing and footsteps.
