A video of an incident at Manchester Airport between police officers and members of the public went viral on social media in July.

July 23:

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), there was an altercation between passengers on a Qatar Airways flight arriving at Manchester Airport at 19:20.

The second incident, described by police as a “violent altercation involving members of the public”, took place at Starbucks in Terminal Two shortly after 8.20pm.

The third incident took place at the parking toll booth shortly before 8:30 p.m.

Brothers Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, and Muhammed Amaad, 25, and their mother Shameem Akhtar, 56, from Rochdale, were allegedly attacked.

Police say three of their officers suffered head injuries, including a broken nose.

Four men were arrested at the scene for fighting and assaulting emergency service workers.

July 24:

The officer was removed from operational duties after footage of the incident, which appears to show a man being kicked and stomped on the head as he lies on the floor, was released online.

The police voluntarily forward their response to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
