Update Java on Windows Using These Simple Methods

Java has become essential to so many applications that not having Java could prevent you from installing and using the applications of your choice. Not just the lack of Java, but an outdated version of Java can be just as annoying. So get the latest version on your Windows device so you don’t miss a thing.

First, let’s see how Java can be installed on your device:

  1. Use your browser to open https://www.java.com/en/download/
  2. Click “I agree and start the free download”
  3. Now click Run
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Update Java on Windows 10:

  1. Open the Start menu and open the Control Panel
  2. Now sort icons as “large icons” from view by options
  3. Click on Java and select “update” in the tabs above
  4. Select the “update now” option in the bottom right corner
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to update Java

Update Java on Windows 7:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel
  2. Now change the size of the icons to “large icons” using the View by option.
  3. Click on Java from the list of options
  4. Tap the Update tab at the top and then select Update Now
  5. Press Yes for the changes to take effect
  6. Now download the update and run it.
  7. Click Yes >> OK and then click Install.

Update Java using Internet Explorer:

  1. Open https://java.com/en/download/win10.jsp in your Internet Explorer
  2. You need to upgrade an existing Java installation to run Internet Explorer
  3. You can find this under All apps in the Windows/Start menu
  4. Click “I agree and continue.” It’s the red button in the middle.
  5. Press start. Your current version of the page will be checked immediately.
  6. Tap “download java now”
  7. Click “I agree and start the free download”
  8. Click Install to start the installation in the default location.
  9. Select the version of Java you are currently using and remove it by clicking “Uninstall”
  10. Click Next”
  11. Click “Close” and your Java is now up to date.
