Bank Holidays in August 2023 in India: The lenders across all the public and private sectors of India are set to enjoy another month that will be full of holidays as the festive season is kicking in slowly. While there were fewer bank holidays in the last month of July, the list of bank holidays in August 2023 is going to be longer than that as there are as many as 08 holidays in the eighth month of the year, excluding the Saturday and Sunday.

The Reserve Bank of India fixes the Bank Holidays each year under three categories- Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of accounts. Onam: Onam is a vibrant harvest festival celebrated in Kerala, India. It usually falls in August or September. People adorn their homes with colourful floral designs (pookkalam) and enjoy traditional feasts, dance (Pulikali), and boat races (Vallamkali) to commemorate King Mahabali’s return.

Rakshabandhan: Raksha Bandhan is an auspicious Hindu festival celebrated to honour the bond of love between brothers and sisters. Sisters tie decorative bracelets (rakhi) on their brothers’ wrists, and in return, brothers pledge to protect and care for their sisters.
