  • Rossi started racing when he was quite young. Karting was his first racing passion. His father bought him a 100 cc national karting engine. He was only five years old then.
  • In 1990, he won the regional title. He then turned to minimoto, where he won a number of regional races. He finished fifth in the national karting championship in Parma. In 1993 he competed in the 125cc Italian Sport Production Championship. The following year he raced the Sandroni prototype.
