Valerie Bertinelli embraces her body.
The 64-year-old Food Network alum posted a mirror selfie on Instagram as she opened up about the acceptance she feels for her body despite the tough things she’s been through over the past year.
In the photo, Bertinelli could be seen in a black two-piece dress posing without make-up, with her hair loose and holding a box of hair dye towards the camera. He appeared to be in front of the bathroom sink with his glasses folded on the counter.
“At some point I’m going to talk about the craziness my body has been through this year,” she captioned the photo. “But right now, every lump, bump, wrinkle, and sagging part of me just feels acceptance and simple appreciation that I’m standing in front of a mirror in a midtown Manhattan hotel bathroom ready to color my roots on a late Monday night.”
Valerie Bertinelli says her post-menopausal years were the ‘most challenging’ for her mental health
This post comes a few days after she took to her Instagram stories to reveal a wound she recently sustained from a fall. In the video, she showed a close-up of her bandaged knee while making a funny face for the camera.
“I still have nine-year-old knees because I fall way too often than is comfortable for someone my actual age,” Bertinelli wrote on her Instagram at the time.

But that wasn’t the only recent injury The Drew Barrymore Show the correspondent kept. Bertinelli said in October that she cut her hand while working on a “top secret project” after tripping “on the corner of the stage” and falling in front of the crew and audience.
She revealed the fresh scar in a mirror selfie taken on her camera phone, which showed torn skin that ran from below her wrist to above her elbow.
Along with the photo, she wrote: “I would have asked for risk pay, but it was my damn fault. 🥴.” She added that Bertinelli is mostly “because I’m a jerk.”

Bertinelli — who recently split from writer Mike Goodnough — has been candid in the past about not only her physical ailments, but her mental and emotional ones as well. On November 17, she also revealed in a “scary” and “vulnerable” Instagram post that she had suffered an anxiety attack.
Alongside a video of her hand shaking, the star wrote: “I’ve been sitting on this post all day because she’s incredibly vulnerable and that’s always scary to share. But I’m posting because we’re all here doing our best to have a human experience and none of us want to feel like we’re alone. 🤍V.”
After “taking a deep breath,” Bertinelli recalled suffering a “really bad anxiety attack,” something she noted on the tape that she hadn’t had in “a very, very long time.” She described it with the words: “A few hours ago I was crying uncontrollably, and my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. I couldn’t stop shaking.”
“Fortunately, these attacks have become much less frequent, so this one surprised me a little today. This is an aftereffect,” she added.
