Vera Wang’s 2 Daughters: All About Cecilia and Josephine

Vera Wang, one of the most famous names in fashion, said that her two daughters are her muses.

Wang shares her children, Cecilia and Josephine, with her ex-husband, real estate businessman Arthur Becker. The couple — who split in 2012 after 23 years of marriage — adopted Cecilia after her birth in 1990 and Josephine three years later.

The fashion designer has shared numerous photos and memories from the last few decades on social networks, and she affectionately calls her girls Cesi and Jojo. In December 2023, Wang shared a dramatic photo on Instagram of her two daughters at the Christmas table, and fans commented that the three of them looked alike despite their large age difference. “Me and my girls…!!! 🎄🎄💙💙💙 So happy together,” she captioned the post.

Since the two were young, Cecilia and Josephine served as muses to their creative mother. Wang said New York magazine in 2006 that she loved “putting the look together” with her daughters and teaching them the value of luxury clothing.

Cecilia also joined her famous mom at work, as Wang shared in a throwback Thanksgiving post on Instagram, which shows her older daughter in her mother’s studio at 5 1/2 weeks old. “Already in the office. Mom and daughter,” Wang wrote in the caption of the post.

Wang and Arthur adopted Cecilia shortly after her birth in 1990 when Wang was 41 years old.

Cecilia, or “Cesi,” spoke about what it was like growing up with the fashion icon as a mom and knowing her upbringing was different from other children’s.

“When I was three, my mom made a wedding dress for my Halloween costume — I didn’t take it off for days,” Cecilia said. Teen Vogue in 2010

She added that it didn’t take her long to realize the benefits of her mom’s job. “I knew something was different about my family when my sister and I modeled in her fashion shows as kids,” Cecilia said.

At the age of 15, Wang’s older daughter interviewed her for Seventeen magazine and talked about their close relationship.

“While most people look to my mom for her great style, I respect her great advice. It tells me to work hard in school and keep my options open so I can find my own passion in life,” Cecilia wrote in 2007. “So the next time your mom is bored, give her a break. He probably has some secrets of success hiding in his closet.”

Cecilia attended the University of Pennsylvania as an undergraduate, and although she didn’t quite follow in her mother’s footsteps career-wise, she stayed in the creative world. She is an interior designer and founder of Cecilia Sloane Interiors.

Josephine Becker, 30

Arthur and Wang adopted Josephine after she was born in 1993.

In 2013, Wang announced that her younger daughter was attending Harvard University, writing on Instagram: “My daughter josephine is getting ready for Harvard!” Josephine, who was called “Jojo” by her family, was accepted to university again in 2020, this time to business school, and the family celebrated with a cake covered in Harvard logos that said “Congratulations Jojo”.

The fashion mogul shared a photo of the cake and captioned the post, “When your daughter Josephine gets accepted to Harvard Business School! Proud mom! Congratulations JoJo!!! XX mom.”

While Josephine has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, she and her mom were spotted at a mother-daughter date night at the 2022 US Open in NYC. Both dressed fashionably for the occasion, with Wang calling the pair “tennis diehards” on Instagram.
