David Beckham is learning to care for his new pets.
After the 48-year-old soccer legend received a fully equipped chicken coop for Christmas, his wife Victoria Beckham spotted him catching up on the dos and don’ts of keeping birds when she snapped a candid photo of him flipping through a book titled Keeping chickens for dummies on social media on Friday.
βJust a little Friday night reading for @davidbeckham,β the fashion designer captioned the photo she shared on her Instagram Story.

The Spice Girls debuted the “Beckham chicks” on Instagram last week, sharing a video of David meeting the birds.
“Merry Christmas,” she said in the recording, before asking: “What did you get for Christmas, David?”

“I’ve got chickens and a rooster,” replied David, who could be seen scattering seeds while wearing a festive Santa hat.
Victoria then zoomed in on the retired athlete and his flock peeking out from a large wooden coop.
Behind the lens of the camera, the designer called the birds “Beckham chickens” and noted that they are “a little camera shy.”

Although chickens are the family’s first feathered β not furry β friends, the Beckhams are longtime dog lovers who have always welcomed pets into their clan with open arms, especially during the holidays.
Last year, the family – which includes children Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 18, and Harper, 12 – welcomed a new pet bunny, Coco, on Easter Sunday, which also happened to be Victoria’s 48th birthday.
David even shared a carrot with a pet the lady and the tramp-style in one clip, which he captioned, “Happy Easter weekend from the Beckham’s & Coco.”
