L. Victoria Gowri, also known as Lekshmana Chandra Victoria Gowri, was born on Monday, May 21, 1973 (age 50; as of 2023). She hails from Nagaikkoil, Tamil Nadu. Her zodiac sign is Gemini. After joining the Madras Bar Council in September 1995, Victoria Gowri started practicing independently in the Karur Subordinate Judge’s Court. After a brief practice, in 1996 she transferred to the Genyakumari District Court. A year later, she established a law firm called VVictory Legal Associates in Kanyakumari district. With a team of 6 advocates, VVictory Legal Associates is one of the leading law firms in Kanyakumari, known for its outstanding services in civil, family, criminal as well as writ and appeal cases. In 2006, she extended her practice to the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court as Assistant Solicitor General of India.

In 2023, after a Supreme Court committee recommended the appointment of Victoria Gowri as an additional judge of the Madras High Court, several lawyers in the Madras High Court started protesting against her appointment. Protesting lawyers claim her past public speeches have made controversial remarks targeting religious minorities such as Muslims and Christians. They also pointed to her previous association with the BJP. Lawyers even filed a petition against her promotion to India’s Supreme Court, claiming that her past speeches showed strong bias against citizens based on religious beliefs. Acting Chief Justice T Raja of the Madras High Court was sworn in as Additional Judge of the Madras High Court on February 7, 2023, during the hearing of a petition against her in the Supreme Court of India. Dismissing the petition, a special bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai, said the bench could not direct the SC committee to reconsider Its advice to Victoria Gowri. The bench further said that in certain cases, an additional judge would not be appointed as a permanent judge on account of his performance. Several lawyers in Chennai protested after the Supreme Court verdict was announced.
