The singer shared a photo taken at the 2024 Grammys alongside her “idol” and “inspiration” on Tuesday. Her caption on Instagram read like a letter.

“Dear @Beyonce my queen my idol my inspiration!” wrote Monét. “I was really nervous to come to greet you. I swear I’m usually not even the brave type, but as soon as we talked I felt peace. I felt at home..and I knowwww it sounds crazy but I felt that and it must be God and some guardian angels! God knows how much I love you, how you raised me musically and trained me to be a better performer by watching and experiencing you, and how much I had solo concerts in my room dreaming and singing into my hairbrush or remote when your albums and visuals drop!”

“You’re my Diana, my Tina, my Aretha! My Bey!!!” the “On My Mama” singer added, dropping the names of other legendary performers Diana Ross, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin. “Your legacy was absolutely my artistic development…the best blueprint any performer could ask for, but never to compare!! THE ONLY🐝 The way you gracefully balanced motherhood and world domination should be studied! Vulnerable portrayal of this balance in your films And in real time she helped me get out of labor and saved my life in many ways.”

“You’re the fucking best!!!” she concluded. “I know I’m your billionth biggest fan, but there are a lot of bees in this hive and the honey is endless!! 🍯 Thank you for your beauty and grace and legacy that continues to open doors for so many of us black girls, and for taking the time to talk with me on the biggest day of my career. You really were here the whole time! 🤎 I love you forever, in every way, always! Sincerely Victoria ✨🤎”

Besides meeting her idol, Monét had something to celebrate on Sunday night. She took home Grammys for Best New Artist, Best R&B Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical (the latter two awards for her 2023 album Jaguar II).

“This award has been a 15-year quest. I moved to LA in 2009. And I like to compare myself to a plant that’s been planted and you can look at the music industry like soil and it can look like you look at it as dirty or it can be looked at as a source of nutrients matter and water. And my roots have grown underground for so long invisible. And I feel like today I’m finally sprouting above the ground,” said Monet during her acceptance speech for Best New Artist.

In the competitive category, which is considered one of the “big four” awards, she beat out Gracie Abrams, Freda Again…, Ice Spice, Jelly Roll, Coco Jones, Noah Kahan and The War and Treaty.

Beyoncé was neither a nominee nor a performer this year. She came to support her husband JAY-Z, who was awarded a Dr. Dre Global Impact Award.

During his acceptance speech, JAY-Z seemingly called out the Recording Academy for his wife’s failure to win Best Album, despite being nominated for the top prize four times. With 32 wins and 88 nominations, Beyoncé is the most awarded and nominated artist in Grammy history.
