Vijay Inder Singla

Vijay Inder Singla is an Indian politician and a senior member of the Indian National Congress (INC). He served as MP from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab from 2009 to 2014. Singla is also a former member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly.

In 2009, he participated in the Sangrur constituency election in the name of the Indian National Congress and defeated Sukhdev Singh Shindesa of the Shiromani Akali Dal Party by 40,000 votes and was elected to the 15th position. Singla and his wife Deepa co-manage Accent Alloys Pvt. Although Accent Alloys was registered in 2009, Singla said the company has never conducted any business transactions. Real Gases and Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., a family-managed business that operates an ammonia bottling plant. From 2005 to 2006, he served as a Director on the Board of Directors of Punjab Genco Ltd, a power generation company owned by the Government of Punjab.

Violation of Covid-19 norms

In 2022, the Sangrur police filed two charges against Vijay Inder Singla in two cases registered. On February 12, 2022, the first case under Section 188 of the IPC and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 was registered at the Sangrur police station. According to the FIR reported against Vijay Inder Singla, the flying squad in charge of Rajinder Kumar found that Singla violated norms by conducting a political rally consisting of 70 to 80 people. On February 13, another case was registered under Section 188 of the IPC, Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. Singla discussed the matter in an interview and said:

Even though AAP has been in existence for six months, I was never aware of these code violation cases against me. However, I have full confidence in the judiciary and will comply with the court’s order. “
