Working with Radio Times, WandaVision Showrunner Jac Schaeffer talks about Wanda suddenly becoming a villain after 2021 WandaVision Schaeffer explained that while she appreciates the important role that Scarlet Witch plays in the MCU storyline, she understands that the role does not belong to a single director or writer. Schaeffer compares the experience of directing an MCU project to “Temporarily borrowing characters and storylines” and acknowledge “One of the things that’s so wonderful and unique about the MCU” It’s the characters that continue to evolve with each issue. “I love Wanda and all the characters I’ve had the pleasure of working with; Natasha [in Black Widow]Carol Danvers [in Captain Marvel]Everyone.
“But being part of the MCU, you have to borrow characters and storylines from it for a while.”
“You learn from them and then things move on, which is one of the things that’s so wonderful and special about the MCU. A lot of my friends and colleagues are in this movie.
“I am grateful to [Wanda] I just wanted to know more about her in any way I could. Actually just to know more about Lizzie [Olsen] No matter what, she is so great.”
Wanda Maximoff’s fate may not be determined yet
Jacques Schaeffer’s comments confirm that Scarlet Witch’s MCU journey was not written from the beginning. Instead, each appearance of Wanda changes her journey and provides new possibilities for the hero’s future stories. Since Wanda is not owned by a single writer or director, it is always possible to undo or adjust what was established by her previous appearances. This includes Scarlet Witch’s seemingly permanent death in Avengers: The Last Jedi. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The Scarlet Witch in the comics is also in a state of constant evolution.
