Wendy’s and Popeyes Bring Back Their Fish Sandwiches Just in Time for Lent

If you’re looking for fried fish, Wendy’s has you covered.

While many Catholics abstain from eating meat on certain days during Lent (which began on February 14 and ends on Easter, March 31), these fast food places offer a seafood alternative.

Wendy’s Crispy Panko Fish Sandwich rejoined the menu on Monday. The fan favorite combines a panko-coated Alaskan pollock fillet with lettuce, American cheese, pickles and tartar sauce on a bun. Prices vary by location, but the suggested price is $6.16.

Popeyes also helps out with Meatless Friday, a tradition during Lent.

On Wednesday, the fried chicken spot brought back two limited-time seafood dishes: a flounder sandwich and a shrimp side dish.

First introduced in 2021, the flounder fish sandwich comes in classic and spicy options. It is a breaded flounder fillet sandwich with pickles and tartar sauce or spicy spread, between brioche buns.

Wendy’s is also adding a new menu item that’s a sweet way to start your day.

The chain is partnering with Cinnabon to create Cinnabon Pull-Aparts. Starting February 26, the sweet treat will be available at Wendy’s eateries during breakfast. According to the post, the new breakfast item is “Wendy’s spin on the classic cinnamon roll while still maintaining the product’s familiarity.”

Cinnabon Pull-Aparts consist of Danish pastry topped with a glaze baked with cinnamon, brown butter and sugar. Each is also slathered in the pastry brand’s legendary cinnamon cream cheese frosting with a “subtle hint of citrus.”
