He had to be freed from his £260,000 Ferrari FF which was smashed into pieces when it crashed into a tree in Theydon Bois, Essex, on Saturday.

Antonio managed a miraculous escape from his horrific supercar crash.

Witnesses told how the shaken West Ham ace was in utter confusion.

The driver’s side was shredded and it is believed that the impact flew into the passenger seat.

He was trapped for nearly an hour in the mangled wreckage before being airlifted from the scene.

Last night he was recovering from surgery on a fractured lower limb in a London hospital.

Samuel Woods, 34, was driving home after walking his dog in Epping Forest when he saw what he thought was a discarded car on the side of the road.

He stopped and ran to help when he saw a man inside who looked “in a lot of trouble.”

Samuel, a carer from Regent’s Park, told The Sun: “I said ‘hello’ to him to see if anyone was alive.

“He was so disoriented. He said, ‘Where am I? What’s going on? What car am I in?’

“The paramedics arrived very quickly. I couldn’t believe what happened. The car smelled of gasoline.”

Samuel, who doesn’t follow football and didn’t recognize the star, continued: “I looked at him and thought, ‘He’s in big trouble’.

“I just said, ‘You had an accident.’ He didn’t answer. He was looking around trying to figure out what I just said. He was sitting on the passenger side.”

Other drivers also reported seeing smoke coming from the wreckage – near the home of West Ham owner David Sullivan.

One driver, who drove past the scene just minutes after it happened, told The Sun: “I saw the car was a total mess.

“Because there was smoke coming out of the car, people were too scared to go near it, I think.”

Thousands of fans sent prayers and well wishes after news of the crash broke.

The Ferrari FF was the fastest four-seater in the world when it was introduced in 2011.

It can reach 208mph and accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 3.7 seconds.

Michail crashed his £210,000 Lamborghini into a garden wall on an icy road on Christmas Day 2019.

He joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest in 2015 for £7m and became the East London Prem club’s top scorer with 68 goals in 268 games.

Michail, who also co-hosts the BBC’s Footballer’s Football podcast with Newcastle’s Callum Wilson, has been capped three times for England squads but never played.

In 2021, he moved to Jamaica, where his parents are from, and won 21 games.
