What is Google’s new Duet AI feature for Google Sheets?

As Microsoft’s AI product offering continues to grow, Google is also trying to improve its game and introduce many new AI-based features to its Workspace products.

Recently, Google announced that Google Sheets will also feature Duet AI. Since its launch, the feature has only been integrated into Google Docs and Google Slides, but now the tech giant is expanding its reach.

This feature will be visible to the user on the right side of the screen and be named “Help me organize”.

Aparna Pappu GM and VP, Google Workspace stated this in a blog post “Our new Help Me Organize feature in Sheets automatically creates custom plans for tasks, projects, or any activity you want to track or manage—just describe what you working hard to finish, and Sheets will create a plan to help you stay organized.” .

“Whether you’re an event team planning an annual sales conference or an outside team coordination manager, Duet AI helps you create organized plans with tools to get you started,” it added.

One of Duet AI’s most powerful features is its ability to automatically classify data. This can save users a lot of time and effort as they no longer have to manually classify data. Duet AI can classify data based on many factors, including data type, data source, and data context.

What is Duet AI for Google Workspace?

Google Duet AI is a general artificial intelligence first introduced at Google I/O 2023. It was created with the goal of helping users create and edit text, images, and code more efficiently.

Google Blog stated, “From the beginning, Google Workspace was created to allow you to collaborate in real time with others. Now you can collaborate with AI. We have integrated the power of generalized artificial intelligence into all Workspace applications.

“These features help you write, organize, visualize, speed up your workflow, organize richer meetings, etc. This powerful new way of working is what we call Duet AI for Google Workspace,” it added.

Duet AI is built on Google’s PaLM 2 language model, which is one of the most powerful language models in the world. PaLM 2 is trained on a huge dataset of text and code and can understand language contexts in a similar way to how humans do.

Duet AI is integrated into the following workspace products:

  • Gmail and Gmail for mobile devices
  • Google Docs
  • Google Slides
  • Meet Google
  • Google Sheets
