Allen Steed, who was charged with rape, a first-degree felony, pleaded guilty to having an unauthorized union. When Steed was just 19 years old in 2001, his cousin Jeffs married him off to his younger sister Elissa Wall, who was just 14 years old. Since then, he continued to physically attack and rape her.

Allen Steed continues to live in Utah and is currently allowed to do as he pleases. When a plea deal was reached in the Jeffs case in 2006, Allen Steed, who was charged with first-degree rape, spent just 30 days in jail. He was then placed on probation for 36 months.
He took this action because he believed that a woman’s only true calling was marriage. By the time she was 17, Elissa had experienced four miscarriages and one child who died during childbirth.

Wall claimed that Steed eventually physically assaulted her after she begged Jeffs to get her out of her marriage to Steed. The court ruled that another charge of unlawful intercourse with a minor will be reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor if he does not violate the terms of his probation, saving him from being charged as a felon. Even so, Wall, who has since remarried, said she was satisfied with Steed’s sentence.
