Devin Carter’s parents, Cassie and Anthony Carter, raised him and his younger brother Joshua in Miami. Devin and his younger brother, Joshua Carter, grew up close and the two spent a lot of time together. But basketball has always been the center of Devin’s life. Devin was exposed to basketball at an early age by his father, who previously played in the NBA, and has been hooked ever since. Devin’s love for basketball grew stronger as he got older, so he worked diligently on and off the court to improve his skills.
Devin is in his third year at Providence Collegiate and had a great start to his college basketball career, scoring a personal-high 16 points against Western Kentucky. Carter had a tremendous college basketball career at the University of South Carolina. Furthermore, Anthony enjoyed a fantastic year at Brewster Academy in 2020-21, where he honed his skills before moving on to play junior high and senior high school basketball at Doral.
Devin Carter’s parents
Devin Carter, a young basketball player, was born on March 18, 2002 to Anthony Carter and Cassie Burns. He grew up in Miami and played basketball with his younger brother. Carter was never pushed to play or be a star because his father helped him balance his goals. His father would tell him, “Don’t play basketball because I played it.” He was always there to teach and train him, but he never pressured him to participate.
Devin also played football, baseball and indoor soccer. His father told him that you should only do what you love because you have to do your best if you want to succeed. Their mother, Cassie, is equally supportive of their basketball careers. Carter is currently ranked as a four-star recruit by ESPN.com, Rivals.com and 247Sports. He is also rated as the No. 94 prospect on ESPN.com, No. 92 on Rivals.com and No. 86 on 247Sports.com.
Anthony Carter, Devin Carter’s father, is a former NBA player and coach
He played for the league for 13 years. This tour includes stops with the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Scafati Basket, Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. After retiring from playing in 2013, Anthony devoted himself to coaching, taking a job with the Austin Spurs of the NBA Development League. On July 31, 2015, he joined the Kings as an assistant coach, building on his previous coaching experience with the NBA D-League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce. Anthony has been with the Miami Heat as a player development coach since September 2021.
Brother Joshua Carter
Joshua Carter, Devin Carter’s younger brother, loves basketball just as much as his older brother. Joshua, like his father and brother, plays high school basketball. Growing up in a family where their father, Anthony Carter, was a famous NBA player, the Carter brothers were surrounded by basketball, which significantly contributed to their love for the sport.
