Alanis Morissette was born on June 1, 1974 in Ottawa, Canada to parents Richard Alan Morissette and Georgia Morissette. Alanis is the female version of the father’s name Alan. Both her parents were teachers.
Alanis has two brothers: Chad, her older brother, and Wade, her younger brother. She went to Holy Family Catholic School for elementary school. She later attended Immaculata High School before transferring to Glebe Collegiate Institute to complete her high school education.
