The Peloton instructor and Love Squad founder and Haynes dated for nearly a decade before tying the knot in Mexico in August 2021. Their five-day wedding “weekend” made headlines, with Haynes playing a significant role in making their multi-day celebration happen.

Haynes is from the Caribbean, and his homeland inspired the second night of the couple’s five-day wedding. Held on the beach, the carnival party in Trinidad and Tobago was full of nods to Haynes’ legacy.

“There was chicken, curry, chana, all these things that were heavily inspired by Trinidad and Tobago food,” Love said. Knot in August 2021. She later shared that many products from Trinidad were included in the festivities.

Haynes and Love have a double celebration on April 6 every year because the couple share the same birthday. In a 2020 Instagram post, Love talked about their “two for one birthday.”

“Did you know we have the same BIRTHDAY?!??” she wrote in the description. “But always let me celebrate it as if it were just my day. However, I only celebrate because you are worth celebrating!!”

He met Love in a club in New York

About a decade before their wedding, Haynes and Love connected during a night out in New York. During an interview with PEOPLE in 2021, she talked about what first attracted her to Haynes: his moves.

“We met at a club in New York and I just happened to be sold on his dance moves,” Love said. She also touched on how their romance blossomed into mutual respect in the full sense of the word.

“He definitely supports me,” she added. “He gives me honest feedback. He takes my classes. He shows up. He helps remind me to celebrate my little victories. So he’s pretty special.”

The couple dated for about seven years before Love posted her first Instagram with Haynes. In September 2018, she shared a selfie with Andrew from their recent trips abroad.

“Meet Andrew….we’ve been playing for a while now and I have to say it just keeps getting better!” she wrote in the description. “He’s planning an annual surprise trip…and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

They got engaged on Christmas Eve 2020

Haynes proposed to Love at Rosewood Mayakoba, a luxury resort in Mexico. Less than a year later, they said “I do” at the same location. Shortly after the engagement, Love shared an Instagram Story to announce the news.

“So I’m engaged,” she wrote. “I am beyond grateful for God’s anointing on our love and lives…soon I will find wedding planning tips.”

A few days after the proposal, she posted a photo of them kissing with fireworks in the background and revealed more details about the engagement.

“I SAID YES (and yes)!!!!!” wrote Love on Instagram. “…And not because it was a private fireworks show just for me/us… I will share the proposal soon, it was UNEXPECTED and so PERFECT!! More photos/stories to come, but…TTYL, I’m still enjoying this beautiful time with my FIANCE.”

In mid-January 2021, Love spoke to PEOPLE about the surprise proposal.

“Obviously, I had no idea that he was going to propose, so on the first day there we had a private dinner on the beach. We were lucky enough when we traveled, when there was no COVID, we had a lot of private things and experiences,” she said.

They got married in August 2021, and he planned their wedding

Haynes took the lead in planning their five-part wedding, which included plenty of surprises. The first night was a Mexican themed party, welcoming their guests to a destination wedding. This was followed by a Trinidad and Tobago party and a Miami-style event in honor of Love’s hometown.

“My husband decided to take over the project and become a wedding planner. I was the self-proclaimed executive assistant,” Love, who initially wanted a small wedding, said in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.

The wedding was held in front of the Rosewood Mayakoba Lagoon. After the ceremony, the reception was full of dancing, cake cutting and fun, according to Love’s Instagram post.

“We are MARRIED,” Love announced on social media. “Dear God, you have blessed us with amazing friends and family, and each other. We are happy. We are grateful, we are blessed. Thank you!!! Andrew, I love you forever.”

He attends a lot of Love’s Peloton courses

Haynes is the biggest supporter of his wife. In an Instagram post in January 2020, she shared that he spent almost all of her Sundays on love rides.

Although not held as often these days, Love has consistently organized a Peloton ride every Sunday. She returned to the peloton podium on the first Sunday with love after more than two years.

He is a Brooklyn Nets fan

Haynes and Love share a love for the Brooklyn Nets. Love hosts a professional basketball team at the arena, but she said they call him their “mayor.”

“I host the games and they call him the mayor of @barclayscenter @brooklynnets (behind his back at least),” she captioned an Instagram post in April 2022. “Sharing our love for @brooklynnets together makes it so much more fun.”
