Biography of Angela Rye
Angela Rye was born into a mixed family; her father, Eddie Rye, is of African-American descent, and her mother, Andre Rye, is Caucasian. She was born in Seattle, Washington and grew up in the Madrona neighborhood. Her brother is Brian Rye, and her father is a social activist in Seattle.
She began her education at Holy Names Academy, an all-girls school in Seattle, and graduated from there to attend the University of Washington. She continued her education by enrolling in the Faculty of Law of the University of Seattle, where she graduated in 2005.

Angela Rye’s career began as an advocate in an organization with 120 black universities and colleges in the United States. The name of the organization is the National Association for Equal Opportunities in Higher Education. Angela was the Advocacy and Legislative Affairs Coordinator.
Prior to this position, she worked in the district office of Congresswoman Maxine Waters. She also served as the Western Region Director of the National Association of Black Law Students.
Angela moved to Washington, DC, where she founded IMPACT. This is an organization that promotes political participation, economic empowerment and civic engagement among young professionals. In a short time, the organization has evolved into a strong voice and advocate for young professionals.
IMPACT works with the National Urban League, the National Bar Association, Rainbow/Push, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and the Black Leadership Forum, among others, under Rye’s leadership. She founded the political advocacy firm IMPACT Strategies in 2013 and is currently the firm’s CEO and director.
