He received his master’s degree from the University of Vermont. He was hired by WVNY in 1969 as a sports announcer despite having no broadcasting experience or training.
When his wife got pregnant, he took a better paying job at WJOY. He began working for WGIR in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1972.
He joined WBZ in October 1976, succeeding Ken Beatrice as host of Calling All Sports, a midnight program. In 1979, he joined WBZ-TV as a weekend sports anchor.
He became a weekday anchor and sports director in 1987. He has worked for WODS-FM, WAMG-AM and MeTv. He also worked as an announcer for Fenway Park.

“Yes, I was sad after the first diagnosis in 2008. I am paralyzed from the waist down. But I love to play golf.”
He was airlifted from Florida to Boston for treatment, where his condition improved. Now he enjoys life playing golf.
