He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers after being selected by the Denver Nuggets. In his rookie season, he set a rookie record with 123 three-pointers. In addition, he and the Clippers had a playoff streak in his second season, averaging 11.7 points per game, his highest playoff total. He appeared in three games for the Clippers during the postseason.
On January 25, 1999, he signed a 6-year, $27 million contract with the Chicago Bulls. He played in only 37 of 50 games that season due to an ankle ailment, starting 30 of them, averaging 11.1 points per game. On August 12, 1999, he was traded to Seattle for Hersey Hawkins and James Cotton after failing to fill the Bulls void. After that, he began working in Seattle with fellow Oregon State alumnus Gary Payton. He played point guard, and occasionally came as a small forward for the team. He also played four seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics, appearing in ten postseason games, the most of his career.
