Snack vs. Chef will feature 12 chefs attempting to imitate legendary and well-liked snacks before inventing their own snacks inspired by the same iconic cuisine. Clara Park, who previously won Food Network’s Chopped, is one of the 12 participants slated to feature on the program.
The show’s synopsis is as follows:
“This new culinary tournament, hosted by comedians Megan Stalter and Hari Kondabolu, pits 12 cooks against each other in the ultimate snack battle. They will be challenged not just to duplicate some of the world’s most famous snacks, but also to design their own unique treats inspired by renowned classics. Only one person will win the $50,000 reward.”
Snack vs. Chef will debut on Netflix on November 30.
Clara Park, author of Snack vs. Chef, teaches at The Culinary Literary Center.
Clara Park from Philadelphia is one of the chefs slated to participate in the Netflix culinary competition, which is expected to broadcast shortly. The culinary development chef is a past Chopped winner and has previously served as a judge on Wing Wars, an Atlantic City-based chicken wing tournament. Clara provides culinary courses “anywhere.” She teaches at The Free Library’s Culinary Literary Center, Old City Kitchen, Reading Terminal Market, and Philly Public School.
While the future Snack vs. Chef candidate has created a reputation for herself in the food sector, she did not always want to work in the culinary arts. She got a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Chicago before entering the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.
According to her bio:
“I grew up liking to cook and eat, and I attempted a variety of jobs before enrolling in culinary school. Before returning to Philadelphia, I cooked in New York, San Francisco, Napa Valley, and even France.”
Clara has worked in a number of restaurants, including Gary Danko in San Francisco, Redd in Napa, California, Momofuku Ko in New York City, and Le Moulin Bregeon in France. The Snack vs. Chef candidate received her training from Barbara Kafka, who taught her how to compose recipes and cookbooks. Clara thinks that everyone can and should learn to cook and that when people cook for themselves and save money, they eat healthier. The chef serves on the Advisory Councils of the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Literacy Center and Drexel University’s The Food Lab.
The chef, eater, storyteller, and instructor often uses social media to showcase her culinary abilities, demonstrating the many cuisines she enjoys eating and cooking. Her current Instagram following is 1042 and is expected to expand when the episode airs. Clara is not the first Snack vs. Chef candidate who has previously competed in and won a reality culinary competition. Christian Gill has previously been on Beat Bobby Flay, Guy’s Grocery Games, and the Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge. Scottish Francis defeated Bobby Flay in his own tournament and appeared on MasterChef season 5.
Kevin Gregory, Hari Cameron, Luna Contreras, Danny Kievit, Lauryn Bodden, Sandy Dee Hall, Ali Manning, Lauren Jade, and Kristopher Edelen have joined the cast of Snack vs. Chef. Meghan Stalter and Hari Kondabolu, both comedians, will co-host the event, with Helen Park and Ali Bouzari acting as judges for the Netflix competition. On November 30, Netflix will release Snack vs. Chef.
