Delroy George Lindo was born in London, England on November 18, 1952 to Jamaican parents. His father worked multiple jobs, and his mother was a nurse. Delroy grew up in Eltham and acted in the school nativity play.
At the age of 16, he moved to the United States and settled in San Francisco. He later attended the American Conservatory Theater to study acting. Lindo also holds a BA in Film from San Francisco State University. He received his master’s degree from New York University.
