Graham Blanks is 21, not 29, as Google searches show. Blanks is a Harvard University student who attended Athens Academy for high school. Graham, the reigning NCAA cross country champion and indoor 5,000 meter record holder, had one of his best years in the sport. He was undefeated in 2023 and entered the New Year with a whopping NIL contract.
Blanks partnered with New Balance to host a three-mile run in his hometown on New Year’s Eve. Blanks, who began his racing career competing in the Turkish trot, has come a long way. Asked about his normal Friday night, the captain of his team, the 21-year-old said the only thing he does is sleep.
Graham Blanks Age: What is the age of the runner?
Graham Blanks turned 21 last year, but when you search for his age, it comes out as 29. Last year, one of Graham’s fans left a birthday card on the Lets Run forum. In a post dated April 24, the user said: “Join me in wishing Graham a happy birthday! Graham, happy birthday!”
Graham, a native of Athens, grew up playing soccer. At Athens Academy, a small private high school in Georgia, where he graduated in 2020, he was a winner in football, track and field and cross country. Graham led the track and field and cross country teams at Athens during his junior and senior years. The lone runner in his family, the child credits his participation in several events to his mother.
Graham said in an interview that he started running 5k events when he was 13 years old. His mother also introduced him to the annual turkey trot at a young age. Another reason Graham started running was to improve his endurance on the football field. That’s when his high school coaches, Geoffery Walton and Neville Anderson, realized they were dealing with something serious. Walton found Blanks’ running easy, and while he knew Graham was a great runner, he never imagined he would reach this level. Graham was named the 2019 Georgia Gatorade Boys Runner of the Year as well as the GATFXCCA Boys Runner of the Year.
The Graham Blanks family
In the interview, Graham talked about his maternal and paternal relatives. His parents separated, but Eric and Mary Catherine remained close so that they could continue to contribute to the development of their child. Mary Catherine Smith, his mother, graduated from Athens Academy in 1993 and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi – School of Business Administration.
Mary Catherine has worked as a Realtor since 2010. She is an Alumni Board Member of Athens Academy, Athens Heritage Garden Club and Colonial Dames of America, as well as Corcoran Classic Living. Mary can be found on Instagram, but her username is secret. Mary married Ed Smith after divorcing Eric and they had two more children, Madison and Hudson. Eric Smith, Graham’s father, also graduated from the University of Mississippi. He previously worked as an Account Executive at GMAC Mortgage before moving to Fidelity Bank as an Account Executive Correspondent Loan. He is currently employed as a correspondent account manager at Truist Bank. Annie Blanks, Graham’s only sibling, attends the University of Georgia.
