Who Is Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Sister? All About Mia Blanchard

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is enjoying some quality family time after being released from prison on Dec. 28 — including her half-sister, Mia Blanchard.

Gypsy was born to Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard and Rod Blanchard in 1991, although her parents divorced shortly after her birth. Rod remarried years later to Kristy Blanchard, with whom he had two children, including Mia.

In 2015, Gypsy and her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn conspired to kill Dee Dee after Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen by proxy, a form of abuse in which a parent or guardian can seek attention by making their child sick or exaggerating their illness. A week later, the two were arrested, and Gypsy eventually pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. After serving eight years of her sentence, Gypsy was released on December 28, 2023.

Gypsy’s family had hoped she would get out earlier than the ten-year sentence. IN Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose BlanchardLifetime documentary about Gypsy’s life and her time in prison premiered on January 5, Mia said she felt her sister’s sentence was too long.

I always thought 10 years was too long, she said. “She deserved to be in prison, but she also deserved help.”

Mia added that although she had a loving childhood, she felt sorry for her half-sister, who grew up apart from her and was isolated from her family and peers.

“I’m sorry Gypsy didn’t get the life I got to live,” she said in the documentary. “I got to grow up with a loving father and a loving mother, I got to grow up going to school with my friends, hanging out with my friends, learning to do all these things, and she never had that. Her mother took that away from her.”

She is “proud” of her sister

Although Mia admitted that Gypsy deserved a prison sentence for her crime, she said she was proud of the growth she had seen in her since then.

“I feel like Gypsy is finally finding herself, finding that independence,” the student explained Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard. “She made a lot of mistakes, but she is learning.”

Mia explained that while Gypsy still has to work on overcoming the trauma of her past, she has seen how much effort she is putting into growing.

“Gypsy will always struggle with some things, but she’s growing into a beautiful woman who can accept her own things when she needs to,” Mia said. “I’m very proud of her.”

Before meeting Anderson, Mia admitted she wasn’t sure how she felt about him, sharing with Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard that she is “difficult to satisfy”.

“She doesn’t know what it’s like to live in the real world yet,” Mia said of Gypsy. “She doesn’t know what it’s like to live with a man and I’m just worried it’s going to end in divorce. I don’t want her to feel like I don’t support her or that she’s still in control, but I’ve never met him.”

She continued, “You’ll worry if the person has the right intentions if I can really give them what they need.”

Although she said talking to Anderson “relaxed” her, she was still skeptical about the idea of Gypsy getting married.

“I won’t hold back from anything, I want her to live,” she said in the documentary. “But she has a whole life to experience, a whole life to live.”
