Jeremih was born in the city of Chicago, Illinois, into a musical family. He started playing instruments at the age of three and is known as a self-taught musician who, in addition to his vocal abilities, can play the bass drum, saxophone, quartets, cymbals, many percussion instruments and the piano.

Lacking music reading or any classical training, this singer learned the instruments by ear.
