Meet Jon Stewart’s wife!

Tracey Stewart is married to a former presenter Daily showwho recently announced his return to the Comedy Central hit nearly a decade after it was released in 2015.

Stewart’s hosting of the talk show began in 1999, and the couple married a year later. They welcomed two children (and many animals) in the years that followed.

A former veterinary technician, Tracey has dedicated her life and career to saving animals and has invited Stewart to join her in the initiative since he stepped behind Daily show work desk. In fact, the comedian’s love for animals is what attracted her from the start.

Stewart inherited two cats from a previous relationship; even though Tracey was allergic, she said The New York Times that getting “custody of the cats said so much about him… This was my dream man.”

She added: “But I also knew that because he loved animals, if those animals didn’t love me, that could really count against me. I thought, ‘They’re going to love me. I don’t care if I have hives.'” , Tracey joked.

She is a former veterinary technician

Tracey is clearly an animal lover: at one point, Stewart’s household included four dogs, four pigs, three rabbits, two guinea pigs, one parrot, one hamster and two fish (as well as three horses living outside the house).

Shortly thereafter, Stewart began hosting Daily show In 1999, Tracey started working as a veterinary technician. Now the couple owns a farm in New Jersey that serves as a sanctuary for rescued farm animals affiliated with the national animal rescue organization Farm Sanctuary.

Tracey is also a memoirist Do to animals and president of the Hey Friend Foundation, which is “dedicated to promoting healthy, sustainable and kind living.”

She is a vegan

Given her dedication to animals, Tracey’s eating habits reflect this. She is vegan, although the entire Stewart family is not.

“While I don’t eat animals, my husband does, and because of our mixed marriage, we decided to introduce both children to the children and let them decide for themselves how and what they want to eat,” she wrote in Do to animals.

She met Jon Stewart on a blind date

Stewart’s 20-plus years of marriage to Tracey began with a blind date in 1995. During an appearance on the show in 2002. Larry King livecomedian shared his story about how a person he worked with set him up on a TV special.

This person happened to be Tracey’s roommate at the time. Stewart said a mutual friend of theirs told him: “I know this girl I think you’d really like” and described Tracey in “such great terms”.

“I thought, well, ‘I’d be an ass if I didn’t go out with this woman,'” recalled Stewart, who decided to go by Tracey. However, Daily show The alum revealed he had lost her number after initially writing it down.

“I wrote her number on a dollar bill. And that was when I was still smoking, so I went and bought cigarettes with that thing,” he said before admitting, “I lost her number. I haven’t called in a while.”

Eventually, Stewart got Tracey’s number and the two went on their first date.

Tracey and Stewart married in November 2002. Before they tied the knot, he proposed to her in a unique way.

Tracey and Stewart are parents to two children, son Nathan Thomas and daughter Maggie Rose. In 2022, the former talk show host explained how she was leaving Daily show allowed him to spend more time with his children.

“The best decision I made was taking it Daily show and the second best decision I ever made was leaving Daily show because I have to spend years [with his kids] as teenagers,” Stewart said in the PBS recording. “Just being with them, being present in their lives was such a joy … something that can’t be returned.”
