Lisa Bloom was born to Lisa Read Bray, the daughter of Gloria Bloom (later Allred) and Peyton Huddleston Bray Jr. Her mother is of Jewish origin. Her parents’ marriage was short-lived—they married and divorced while she was still in high school. Peyton Bray, who had a mental disorder, then committed suicide, and Bloom was born with her mother’s last name. Bloom’s mother married William C. Allred when she was seven years old.
