Jorge Ginobili, Ginobili’s father, was a basketball coach who coached in the Argentinian club Bahia Blanca. Manu received the same instructions and learned to play the game. However, after a year he returned to Italy and played for Virtus Segafredo from Bologna. He helped the following clubs win various titles, including the championship of the Italian league and the Euroleague.
Manu was named to the All-Rookie Second Team in 2002-03 for his outstanding performance for the San Antonio Spurs. They also made the playoffs that year, helping the team win their second championship.
