Hallum grew up in California with her sister, she said in an April 2020 interview for Blueprint Concepts’ Women Making Waves series.
“Being born and raised in California, we always grew up by the beach and found ourselves in swimwear more than streetwear,” said Hallum, referring to the inspiration behind her and her sister’s swimwear company.
She co-founded a swimwear company
One of Hallum’s passions is her company, Sousa Swim, which she co-founded with her sister.
“Being able to create pieces that make women feel confident in their own skin is a reward in itself, I think that’s the most important thing for me,” she said in her interview with Blueprint Concepts.
Hallum added that she founded the company after graduating from college and was focused on developing designs for the brand.
“What inspired our first season was the need for basics, simple and clean, you can’t go wrong with that,” she said. “We draw inspiration from everyday life, whether we are in the city or on vacation.”
Although there is an Instagram page for Sousa Swim, the account contains no posts.

Five years later, Smart proposed to Hallum on Christmas Day 2022. For the engagement, he enlisted the help of Hallum’s favorite actor, Will Smith.
In a video of his proposal posted by Smart on Instagram, Hallum appeared confused as she watched a video message from Smith, who wished her a Merry Christmas from Antarctica.
“I know maybe you didn’t get what you wanted,” he added. “I promise you that you won’t end this Christmas empty-handed.”
At this Hallum turned to see Smart get down on one knee and pop the question, much to his surprise. “She said ‘yes’! (Ugh!),” Smart captioned the post. “Thanks @willsmith for the setup help!”
Former Boston Celtics player he later said that Smith was Hallum’s favorite actorso he wanted to incorporate it into the proposal.
“It was great, Will didn’t have to do it, he took time out of his day so I really appreciate that,” Smart told reporters. “She likes Will Smith, he’s one of her favorite actors.”

Notable attendees included Boston Celtics players Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Dallas Mavericks’ Grant Williams, Indiana Pacers’ Daniel Theis and Golden State Warriors’ Gary Payton II.
“Our wedding was truly a fairytale,” Hallum told PEOPLE. “Every detail came to life and made it special, and spending time with loved ones was the cherry on top.”
“What can I say? Dreams do come true and this was the most amazing day,” added Smart.
Hallum explained that the couple decided to make their wedding a weekend-long extravaganza so they could properly enjoy time with all their loved ones.
“It’s a big thing for us to surround ourselves with friends and family and enjoy time with them,” Hallum said. “We knew one day wouldn’t be enough to live in the moment and see everyone, so we extended it to a three-day extravaganza and that allowed us to be present and truly share the love with everyone who attended.”
The party was complete with performances by rapper YG and Grammy-winning singer Eric Bellinger, and even a bar with hookahs and marijuana, as well as belly dancers celebrating [Hallum’s] culture of the Middle East.”
