Michelle Visage was born on September 20, 1968 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, USA, where she grew up. While she holds American citizenship, she is of Hungarian and Irish descent. Michelle Visage was born to Joanne Shupack Lewis and later adopted by Arlene Carol and Martin H. Shupack.
Michelle attended South Plainfield High School in South Plainfield, New Jersey. She then entered the American Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in Manhattan. Michelle Visage won a contest to look like Madonna when she was 16.

Michelle Visage immediately began her career as an actress. She graduated from high school in 1990. Michelle joined Seduction, an R&B trio, that same year. She was able to perform various dances in many places thanks to the band. They sang songs like “Two to Make it Right”.
Michelle then appeared as a guest singer at the TKA freestyle dance event with the song Crash after the band disbanded. She is also the lead vocalist in the dance band The SOUL SYSTEM, and became a recording artist.
