Who Is Payton Pritchard's Wife? All About Emma MacDonald

Payton Pritchard may be aiming for a ring on the court in the 2024 NBA Finals, but he’s already put a ring on his wife, Emma MacDonald.

The Boston Celtics guard proposed to MacDonald in July 2023 after the two first went public with their relationship in February 2023. The two tied the knot a year later in August 2024 in Harwich Port, Massachusetts with more than 250 of their loved ones in attendance.

MacDonald has developed a huge platform of her own, from becoming an influencer in New England alongside her sister, Maggie MacDonald, to vlogging on her TikTok and YouTube channel. She also shared some of her wedding planning process on both of her accounts, with Pritchard admitting that she took the lead on the planning.

Now that the two are married, MacDonald told PEOPLE that she can’t wait to start her new chapter with Pritchard.

“We’re most excited about the person you love being there for you in your worst and worst times and growing together through anything,” MacDonald said.

MacDonald grew up in Dennis, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, but often visited Boston with her family.

“It’s a small town, which makes it manageable, but it really has so much character,” she told Forbes in November 2020. “We’re proud to call ourselves Bostonians because of how much this city has to offer.”

MacDonald is a content creator

The New England native began her career creating content alongside her sister Maggie, but has since ventured into her own solo projects. She has amassed over 800,000 followers on TikTok and 350,000 subscribers on YouTube, where she mostly blogs about her daily life.

One of her most common forms of videos on TikTok are “get ready with me” videos, in which MacDonald walks her viewers through her makeup and fashion routine. In May 2024, she shared a video of herself applying makeup ahead of Pritchard’s playoff game.

They met after Pritchard commented on one of her posts

In a June 2023 Q&A on her Instagram Stories, MacDonald shared that the couple first met when Pritchard left a simple “hey…” in the comments section of one of her posts. She responded with “hi” via Instagram DM.

“It worked out exactly how I wanted it to,” he joked.

MacDonald said that after the two started dating, Pritchard started calling her his girlfriend before they discussed titles.

“I already assumed she was my girlfriend,” he admitted. “I don’t know, I just thought it didn’t need to be said, I thought it already was.”

In a June 2023 YouTube video, MacDonald said the Instagram exchange took place in 2021, but their relationship did not progress after that. They later reconnected on the dating app Raya, although it’s unclear when they first officially started dating.

The couple first announced each other around Valentine’s Day 2023.

Although MacDonald mostly posts videos herself, she sometimes features Pritchard in her content. In one TikTok in November 2023, MacDonald was petting their mutual dog while the basketball star watched a sports game in the background. The previous month, she shared details of her and Pritchard’s birthday party outfit in another video.

In June 2023, she also included Pritchard in one of her YouTube vlogs while they were traveling in Naples, Florida.

They moved in together in March 2023

MacDonald and Pritchard first moved in together in March 2023 into an apartment together in Boston, which she said helped them bond in a June 2023 YouTube Q&A.

“It was so easy, it was such a seamless transition,” she said in the video. “I’ve never lived with someone before and I feel like all I hear when you live with someone is that it’s not the same and your relationship is different, but with Payton and I, we’re exactly the same. He’s still my best friend, we still wake up and do all our little things together.”

In March 2024, the couple moved to a new apartment in Boston.

“This apartment is beautiful and I’m so excited to be here, we love it,” she said in a March 2024 video.

After less than a year of dating, Pritchard proposed to MacDonald on a Cape Cod beach in July 2023. “Love for life,” the two captioned their engagement photos.

Since then, MacDonald has been in the throes of wedding planning between choosing her dress and decorating for the big day.

Pritchard’s priority was to have a nice lounge after the ceremony and build a playlist, he told NBC Sports Boston.

They got married in August 2024

Pritchard and MacDonald were married at Wychmere Beach Club with Pritchard’s former teammate, retired NBA star Blake Griffin, officiating. MacDonald told PEOPLE that she chose a “coastal New England” aesthetic in honor of her upbringing in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Despite their large guest list, MacDonald said she and Pritchard made sure to include intimate moments for themselves.

“We also made sure that on our wedding day we had many moments where Payton and I could take a step back and just enjoy it all, or have moments alone to bond,” she said.

Now the couple is ready to embark on their next chapter. Pritchard described MacDonald as confident and hardworking, adding that “she’s always there for me and has my back.” MacDonald, for his part, enjoys Pritchard’s “selfless, caring” nature.

“I’m happy to see this side of him,” she says. “He is truly the most loving person I know and would do absolutely anything for me and us as a couple.”
